DHL Express Singapore Provides An Alley To Club Rainbow’s Young Lives
DHL, the world's leading express and logistics company announced their partnership with Club Rainbow Singapore on a term basis to provide support to the beneficiaries under Club Rainbow's care at the DHL Bowling Day yesterday. The charity bowl will be the first of many planned activities with the charity organization for 2007.
Club Rainbow was identified and selected after DHL collaborated with the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) through its ComCare Connection scheme, which helps to bring together organizations interests and capabilities with a suitable charity.
At the event yesterday, the children from Club Rainbow and their respective families got to experience the game of bowling, which for some, was a first time experience. It also turned out to be an unforgettable experience for staff of DHL Express Singapore as many were looking forward to making their contribution towards the charitable cause.
The children from Club Rainbow, and their families opened the event, by bowling the first round. This symbolic gesture also marked the start of DHL Express Singapore's series of fundraising events for the year.
As an organization, active in the corporate social responsibility front in Singapore, DHL has had a history of successful partnerships with Club Rainbow on various community projects. In 2005, DHL invited Club Rainbow beneficiaries and their families, to a special screening of the animation film Madagascar. Last year, over 100 Club Rainbow beneficiaries and their families went on a memorable ride on the DHL Balloon.
Said Mr Alec Ang, General Manager, DHL Express Singapore, "We are happy to have had the opportunity to host the beneficiaries of Club Rainbow at our annual bowling event. It was most heartening to see the happy smiles at the bowling alley today. We will continue to lend our support to Club Rainbow and certainly look forward to bringing more joy through such activities in the near future."
DHL is one of the first organizations to benefit from NVPC's ComCare Connection Scheme. Mrs Tan Chee Koon, CEO, NVPC said, "NVPC is glad that DHL, as a company, has consistently taken a proactive stance towards its community-giving efforts. They belong to a growing movement of companies that adopt charities from the perspective of a term partnership so that they can help the chosen charity grow. It is a move that should gain momentum as more companies seek to do a better job of doing good in their communities."
Club Rainbow (Singapore), a charity committed to helping some 430 children who suffer from a range of chronic and life-threatening illnesses, was delighted to be handpicked to become DHL's charity of choice.
Said Gregory Vijayendran, President of Club Rainbow: "For several years now, DHL has been a strong supporter of Club Rainbow and our efforts to help Singapore's chronically-ill children and their families. DHL's commitment to service excellence has made the company a world leader in express and logistics. These too, are goals that Club Rainbow strives to attain - ensuring that we deliver excellent services to our beneficiaries to help them against all odds in their daily struggles. We are deeply honoured by DHL's steadfast support of our mission and being a deliverer of hope."
