DHL Young Entrepreneurs for Sustainability Awards (DHL YES Awards)
2007 would mark the inaugural launch of the
DHL Young Entrepreneurs for Sustainability Awards (DHL YES Awards), in line with DHL's belief in investing in community building to ensure sustainability and growth of society. We have always believed in going beyond just giving immediate aid to beneficiaries and instead support initiatives that provide for sustainable means of aiding the beneficiaries.
Through the DHL YES Awards, we aim to recognize young social entrepreneurs who have contributed to improving their community using innovative tools drawn from across traditional boundaries. Individuals who have, through their own initiatives, "helped people help themselves" by providing them with sustainable means of supporting themselves.
The DHL YES Awards are also being instituted to support the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDG), which comprises a global compact between many countries and all the leading global development institutions to address the needs of the world's poorest. Promoting and supporting social entrepreneurs is the best way to meet MDGs successfully within the Asian region, where social issues are rife.
Singapore Business Awards
The
Singapore Business Awards are jointly organised by The Business Times, a business daily published by Singapore Press Holdings, and DHL, the world’s leading express and logistics company.
The awards were launched in 1985, starting with the Businessman of the Year award. The following year, the Enterprise Award was introduced to give recognition to small and medium-sized companies. These awards have since grown in stature to become the nation’s most prestigious business accolades.
In 1990, the sponsors decided to further expand the Awards scheme to include a new category “Outstanding Manager Award” to give recognition to young entrepreneurs or professionals below the age of 45. This award was renamed Outstanding Chief Executive in 1995.
The three awards, now known collectively as the Singapore Business Awards, are decided on by a panel of distinguished judges drawn from the political, buinsess and academic fields.
